October 2025: Trick or Treat!

It’s a little late for me to say Happy Halloween, so let me just say I hope you got more treats than tricks this year! My window pumpkins were smiling brightly for anyone who came by for candy. Our neighborhood doesn’t have a lot of kids and the weather started out with rain, so my neighbors and I weren’t sure what to expect. But by the time our Trick or Treat started, we had good weather and a bunch of energetic costumed characters stopped by. Halloween is always so much fun! I love to see how creative people get with their costumes.

I love this time of year. The morning air is so crisp and clean, and the days spool out with clouds crossing the sky. I grabbed a shot of The Harvest Moon on October 6th. A couple weeks later, I tried to capture a crescent moon that was peeking through the trees behind our house on October 27th. Alas, I am not a steady photographer and the pictures are blurry. Funny, the full moon and the crescent moon don’t look much different because of that. In person, though, the moon was beautiful and glowing in both cases.

I spent some time at musicals late in the month: Parade at the Ephrata Performing Arts Center, A Chorus Line at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater, and The Rocky Horror Show at Susquehanna Stage. Bill played in the pit band for Rocky Horror and it was delightful. It’s a show I love anyway, but this production was terrific.

In book news, both of my signings, the one at Chocolate Town Book Fest and the one at StoryKeeper, went well and I made some new friends.

I’d like to thank them for being patient with me as we navigated some issues with electronics, but I think we worked everything out. Also, I wanted to let you know that I don’t have any further events scheduled for 2025, but I’m starting to line up some signings and book talks for 2026. When I have details, you’ll see them on the Events page.

I’m wrapping up this round of work on Personal Risk and hope to get it to an editor shortly. The steps are slow, but moving forward.

If you haven’t gotten your copies of Special Risk or Flood Risk, check out the information on my website. If you need gifts for the holiday season, I would be happy to personalize and ship them. Just contact me through the website so we can work out details.

In the meantime, enjoy the journey!
