It’s been a crazy month!

Who would have predicted that my cut flowers from Trader Joe’s would include a lovely pale pink lily with 5, count ’em, 5 blooms! And that was just the beginning of the month!

I love being surprised by wildlife in the back yard and this month I managed to catch a cardinal and a bunny early in the same morning. The cardinals are quick and often hide in the trees behind our house, so I was grateful to get this shot. The bunnies have disappeared lately, which makes me wonder if we have a predator in the area. Still, I did see this one.
I tried to get a good shot of the full moon this month, a supermoon that was considered to be the Harvest Moon. I don’t have a super camera or special equipment; this was taken with my cell phone. The surprise was the bright view of Saturn to the left of the moon, which I wasn’t expecting.

Then, imagine my surprise when I looked at my coffee trees, and after more than ten years in a pot that moved from indoors to outdoors and back, one of them presented me with a few coffee beans! Even though this same plant showed a few blooms in the spring, I never thought they would develop into fruit! I won’t have enough to roast for a cup of coffee, but I’m inordinately pleased to see them anyway.
I also surprised myself by fielding a few baking projects. Flourless Chocolate Cupcakes with Rum Ganache went to some friends; the Pretzels Bites were a tasty snack; Apple Dumplings made a wonderful breakfast to start the fall season; and I gave the Official Ted Lasso Biscuits a try. The biscuits really are easy, taste divine, and I’ll be making this recipe frequently, I’m sure.

I think that covers the surprises this month. I hope good surprises have happened to you over the last month, as well. Let me know what has happened in your life to give your head a spin!
Not so surprising is that I’ll be doing some book signings in the next few weeks. First up is the Chocolate Town Book Fest in Hershey, PA, on October 4th. The Fest runs from 11:00 to 3:00 at the Hershey Public Library. I’ll be joined by 50+ other authors. Come out and visit me! Vie for prizes! Buy books and get them signed!

The following week, on October 11, I’ll be in Marietta, PA, signing books at Story Keeper, 44 West Market Street, from 1:30 to 3:30. This is during the Blues and Brews Festival that day. Come out, hear some music, have a few beverages, and pick up some books! I’ll be happy to sign them for you.
That’s it for now. Until we talk again, enjoy the journey!
