As I write this, my state is bracing for a heat wave. The sun is definitely out, the sky is blue, and yes, it’s beautiful and so are you, my friends!

Of course, hot weather means iced drinks, and what better way to drink my coffee than over ice!
Let’s skip back a few weeks, though. I enjoyed the running of the Belmont Stakes this year. No Triple Crown winner, but a good race well run. And yes, I had a Belmont Jewel and a hat with faux carnations all over it!
Unfortunately, all that inviting greenery means the local rabbits are getting braver and closer to the house. What started out as lounging near the tree line eating the grass has become exploring my peony bed and sitting on the wall near the patio behind our house. They don’t bother with hydrangeas, but my balloon flowers, which are tucked between the peonies, may be at risk!
In book news, I wanted to remind you to put this on your calendar! It’s only a few months away. I’ll be there and hope you can be, too!

5th Annual Chocolate Town Book Fest
at Hershey Public Library
October 4, 2025, 11 to 3
Sponsored by Hershey Public Library and Cupboard Maker Books
This is only the list of mystery and science fiction authors — there are many, many more genres and authors scheduled to be there!
You know that music and instruments are at the center of the plots in the Risk Series books, but have you listened to the music for them? You can find the slightly wacky 80s “hit,” Elevator To The Moon, in the dropdown menu for Special Risk on my website www.sandynork.com. You can also find a couple country songs, Never Be As Good As You and Women Like Wine, for Flood Risk on the dropdown menu for that book, as well. Happy listening!
Until next month,
Enjoy the journey!
