May 2025: Celebrate!

May is a month that makes me want to celebrate every day! The weather is lovely, the flowers are out, and my husband and I celebrate our anniversary! I started partying early by hanging out with some friends who were celebrating one’s new house. What better way to do that than with a Peeptini!

Of course, there were plenty of other days to celebrate with some lovely cocktails, as well. The Kentucky Derby was May 3rd, so on the left is my take on a Mint Julep – the Lime Bramble Julep, which comes out this dark raspberry color due to the Hibiscus flower in the tea base I used. For Cinqo de Mayo, Bill fixed me a lovely, not-very-alcoholic Margarita. Then, for the Preakness on May 17, here’s his low-alcohol version of the Black-Eyed Susan. All were tasty, just not strong, the way I like them! Now I’m looking forward to a Belmont Jewel during the Belmont Stakes in June!

Speaking of celebrations, Bill and I celebrated 20 years of marriage this month. Above are some of the mementos from that day.

We managed a brief getaway to Bedford Springs Inn during the middle of the month. The grounds are gorgeous. In spite of a heavy rain the first day, it was a lovely trip. Bill made sure I had some time at the spa. And the hotel treated us to a luscious dessert. What a wonderful few days!

Some other sights that brought me joy this month: tiny flowers on my Arabica coffee tree; a three-legged deer hanging out in our backyard that seems to have survived the winter; the filling in of the forest greenery behind our house; a bunny peeking at me from our neighbor’s patio; and the glorious blue sky and fluffy clouds of May. All of these are worth celebrating!

On May 24th, I visited Story Keeper Book Store/Rivertown Knits to meet readers and sign books. It’s a very special store, with lots of great reads available, as well as lots of knitting resources. It was a fun afternoon and I hope to be back to visit with them again later in the year.

I hope your May was packed with celebrations and fun times. I’m looking forward to June! Lots of work ahead, but I guarantee you there will also be plenty of sunshine and happy days!
